The AQUANAL®-plus Compact Lab is developed to enable water to be analyzed rapidly directly on-the-spot at which samples are taken. The case contains all the reagents needed to carry out trace analysis for each of the contaminating substances listed in the table as well as for the determination of total hardness and pH. It also contains the small labotatory devices such as syringes, funnels, filters and collecting bottles needed. A space is provided for the photometer which is needed in addition. The AQUANAL®-plus Compact Lab is ideally suited to meet the requirements of fire brigades, the police and environmental protection officers of local authorities and is also suitable for use in schools. |
Principle
For each of the substances listed a special reagent is provided. If one of these substances is present in the water to be
tested and a sample of the water is mixed with the relevant reagent, a specific colour reaction is produced.
The intensity of the colour developed is a measure of the quantity of the substances contained in the water.
Procedure
The water to be tested is mixed with the selected reagent in the glass tube (cuvette) supplied in accordance with the instruc-
tions. The name of the parameter (substance), for which the reagent is specific, is called on the display of the photometer 2.
The photometric calibration curves are already stored in the latter so that - when the measurement has be completed -
the concentration at which the substance is present in the water can be read off directly. After each test, the waste solution (water + reagent)
is collected in the collecting bottle provided in the AQUANAL®-plus Compact Lab. On completion of testing, the contents of the bottle can be
disposed of as waste-water subject to observation of the local regulations.
