These products offer many choices for the determination of impurities in water. Although some reagents are solutions in liquid (tube tests), most are tablet tests for improved precision and easy handling. Optimal results can be achieved with the AQUANAL®-SPECTRO 3 or AQUANAL®-professional SPECTRO 1000 Photometers.
Advantages of AQUANAL®-professional:
- Easy to use
- Easy dosage tablet tests
- No sample preparation necessary
- Low sample volumes
- Little consumption of reagents
- Specific reactions
- Reproducible results
Liquid vs. Tablet reagents
Liquid reagents
Most tests that use liquid reagents use multiple solutions that need to be added to the sample in a particular sequence. The end-point of the reaction is easily overshot if too many drops are added, or if the drop size (volume) is not consistent. Therefore, extreme care must be taken to ensure the correct number of consistent-size drops is added. Solutions are also susceptible to degradation by oxygen and sunlight, evaporation, and have a generally shorter shelf-life than solids.
Tablets
Reagents in tablet form have none of the limitations of the liquid reagents described above. Each tablet contains a precise amount of the required substances (indicator, buffer, complexing agent, etc.). Tablets are spill-proof and provide a convenient way to eliminate the risk of incorrect dosage from the start. Most of the AQUANAL®-professional reagents are provided in tablet form.
