HYDRANAL Karl Fischer Titration Reagents

For many applications pure methanol like HYDRANAL®-Methanol dry is used to dissolve the samples. It is however often necessary to alter the working medium to suit the individual sample. Non-polar samples require chloroform or a long-chained alcohol as solubilizer whereas polar samples and many foodstuffs necessitate the addition of formamide. Acidic and basic samples often must be neutralised in order to reach the ideal pH-value or to suppress side-reactions.

Riedel-de Haën developed several working media which can be used for most of the usual applications and samples. Additionally we several solubilizers and buffers. The product range is completed by HYDRANAL®-Humidity Absorber. This drying agent is suitable to reduce air moisture which is one of the most common sources of error in the Karl Fischer titration.
