SPME is a unique sample preparation technique that eliminates most drawbacks to extracting organics. SPME requires no solvents or complicated apparatus. It can concentrate volatile and nonvolatile compounds (in liquids or gaseous samples), for subsequent analysis by GC or HPLC.
