Licensing Requirements

The possession and use of radioactive material is regulated by law in most parts of the world. In the United States, the use and possession of radioactive materials is governed by regulations issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and published in the Federal Register Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 30.

For states that have established regulatory agencies for the control of radioactive materials, the U.S.N.R.C. has transferred its regulative authority. In these states, a state license is required. Full information about federal and state licensing is available from U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Licensing and Regulations, Washington, D.C. 20555.

Radioisotope users maybe subject to institutional and local regulations. Sigma strongly recommends that investigators familiarize themselves with all applicable regulations. Compliance with these regulations is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Regulations require us to verify that each purchaser is licensed to receive radioactive materials of the type and quantity ordered.
We suggest you send us a copy of your license now to avoid delay when you place your order. License information, along with any special shipping instructions, should be directed to:
