Sigma-Aldrich TLC Plates
Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) plates for adsorption, partition, and ion exchange techniques. Six media choices with glass, polyester, and aluminum backings. Silica-based adsorbent layers in Sigma-Aldrich TLC plates incorporate a polymeric binder; highly purified silica gel plates incorporate a gypsum/polymer binder.
- Silica gel - for weakly to strongly polar separations
- High purity silica gel - acid washed for separation of aflatoxins
- Cellulose - for partition chromatography
- Cellulose PEI - for separation of weak anions (amino acids, peptides)
- Aluminum oxide - basic alumina, for separation of hormones and antibiotics
- Chiral silica - for separation of optically active isomers by ligand exchange

*PEI plates may turn slightly yellow, affecting separation. Predevelop plates in distilled water to minimize yellow color.

ACCESSORIES
TLC development chambers

Uses only 2mL of solvent with elution complete in about 45s (using 20% EtOAc/hexanes as eluant). Greater resolution may be achieved by extending elution time. Borosilicate glass. Use with 2.5 x 7cm flexible plastic or glass TLC plates that may be spotted with up to 10 fractions 7mm apart along the edge of the plate.

- Highly efficient use of TLC plate
- Very little solvent required
- Unlike beakers and jars, tube wall provides a straight base for even solvent flow

TLC spotting guide and Rf reader

Markings at the bottom of the template are useful guides for applying samples at uniform distances across the plate. The guide is printed on 5mm clear acetate and measures 7 x 8 1/2in. (180 x 215mm).

ALDRICH CHROMATOGRAPHY SPRAYERS
 |
Provide a fine, uniform spray that is optimized for the development of TLC plates. Also suited for use in electrophoresis.
- Adjustable spray pattern using thumb on vent hole
- Greaseless, screw-threaded ST joint will not seize; a simple turn of the threaded cap pulls joint apart safely
- Threaded hose barb prevents accidental breakage during tubing installation or removal
- Uses low-pressure gas or air (<5psi).

Kimble micro capillary pipettes
 |
Disposable pipettes are calibrated "to contain". Pipettes are 5 inches long and the different sizes are color-coded. Made of soda lime glass. Each cylinder pack comes with one pipette device. Filling is easy. Capillary action draws the fluid into the tube. To dispense, simply cover the hole on the rubber bulb and squeeze.
