Competent cells are bacterial cells which can incorporate foreign DNA or plasmids. Sigma-Aldrich has a variety of chemical and electrocompetent cells for transformation of DNA with the highest transformation efficiencies. Our cloning strains enable blue/white selection and transformation of methylated DNA, the expression strains are T1 phage resistant and provide T7 promoter systems.
