Mini Horizontal Electrophoresis Units

Designed for rapid, routine electrophoresis for nucleic acids and supplied with two removable UV-transparent gel casting trays with aluminum gates for tape-free gel pouring.

Midi Horizontal Electrophoresis Unit Set

Designed for both analytical and preparative separations of nucleic acids. These 13 cm wide units are similar to the Mini units, but with the addition of buffer circulation ports. Four comb positions allow up to 112 samples to be screened on one gel.

Maxi-Plus Horizontal Electrophoresis Unit Set

This electrophoresis unit has been specifically designed to allow quick and convenient screening of PCR products. When using a 96 well PCR machine, all samples can be screened on a single gel. Loading is simple using a standard multichannel pipette. The unit is constructed of 12 mm thick acrylic to prevent warping and is supplied with a UV transparent tray for easy visualization. For varying sample numbers a range of alternative combs can be used. As there are 12 comb positions, up to 624 samples can be separated on a single gel.

Transilluminators, UV

For visualization of Ethidium bromide-stained nucleic acids and similar fluorescence detection systems.

Features include:

• Single-band and dual-band units available. All include 312 nm (midrange UV) bulbs, which corresponds with the fluorescence excitation maximum of Ethidium bromide. Fluorescence intensity is enhanced, while photobleaching and photonicking of stained nucleic acids are reduced. Dual band units also include 254 nm (short-wave UV) bulbs.
• Six 15 W bulbs illuminate the viewing area uniformly.
• Intensity selector: switch between 100% for reading/photographing gels and 70% for preparing/cutting gels.
• Cooling fan: helps prevent thermal damage to both the samples and the glass filter.
• Long life filter is highly resistant to solarization; unlimited life at 312 nm and above, 3000 hr at 254 nm.
• Built-in hinged UV safety screen

Transilluminators, UV/White Light

One transilluminator with two functions The left side is a 20 x 20 cm white light table for reading autoradiograms, protein gels, and multiwell plates. Two 8W color-balanced fluorescent tubes diffused through an opal glass stage uniformly illuminate it. The right side is a 20 x 20 cm 312nm UV transilluminator for Ethidium bromide-stained gels and other fluorescence applications. Illumination comes from six 8W tubes. The UV filter resists solarization indefinitely with 312 nm light source. A hinged UV safety screen protects the entire stage and can be propped up like a work shield.

Transilluminators, White Light

Well suited to a wide variety of laboratory and graphics applications: viewing and photographing stained protein gels, autoradiograms, or multiwell plates; previewing slides and overhead transparencies; registering transparent overlays.

Features include:

• 20 x 35 cm opal glass viewing area
• Uniformity of +7% over entire area
• Intensity selector: 70% or 100%
• Color balanced (6500°K) white light for true color perception reduces the need for color-correcting filters
• Cooling fan extends life of unit and prevents thermal damage to specimens.

White light transilluminators contain two 15 W and two 6 W fluorescent bulbs.
