Quantitative RT-PCR has established itself as a powerful, robust and effective tool for measuring gene expression levels. It offers a specificity and sensitivity that is unapproachable using array technology1. While microarrays excel at giving a picture of global changes of gene expression levels, they cannot precisely measure small changes in gene expression, including changes in low abundance transcripts. It would also be foolish to use many high-density arrays to profile a single gene.
SpyLine Protocol Overview
The SpyLine mRNA Capture Kits provide a protocol for RT-PCR analysis--from plant tissue to thermal cycler. While the Kits allow for standard RT-PCR, cDNA generation, and mRNA purification, the greatest benefit is realized in the application of qRT-PCR due to the streamlined protocol and the power of quantitative RT-PCR.
