Protein extraction and solubilization require optimized formulations. You can optimize your current methods or evaluate variations of preformulated protein extraction products with the detergents, buffers and solubilizing agents listed here.

C7BzO, (C0856)

Very effective in solubilization of integral membrane proteins. It is commonly used in IEF and 2D electrophoresis. C7BzO has been shown to give excellent resolution of plant proteins.

Iodoacetamide, (A3221)

Effective for alkylation of protein samples (56 mg per vial)

Herbert, B.R., Electrophoresis, 19, 845-851 (1998).

Tributylphosphine Solution, (T7567)

A non-charged reducing reagent, keeps 200 mM (0.5 ml per vial) proteins soluble during electrophoresis
