Your Favorite Gene (YFG) is a search tool that matches gene information to thousands of Sigma-Aldrich products to assist you in finding the tools that you need to study your gene of interest.

How to Search

To search "Your Favorite Gene," enter the gene name, symbol, alternate symbol, homologs, accession number, RefSeq, TRC number or gene ID number in the search box. Human, mouse, and rat genes are currently searchable in YFG. Take the YFG Tour and see how it works first-hand.

After entering your initial search term, a variety of options are available to help you refine your search. On your search results page will be a search box in the upper right corner that allows for searching of additional terms within the results or for starting a new search. Options to sort by relevancy, gene ID, and description are located above the candidate genes. Left of the search results are buttons providing the capability to refine your search by associated products (i.e. antibodies, inhibitors, shRNA, siRNA, etc.), protein function (i.e. apoptosis, protein binding, etc.), pathways (ie. AKT signaling, EGF pathway, etc.), or by species (human, mouse or rat). Options to expand your search are coming soon!
