Large
scale extraction is the process of separating desired compounds from animal,
plant, or microbial sources. This process is usually accomplished through grinding
or dissolving the biomass material and then isolating the desired compound
through filtration or chromatography.
In the pharmaceutical industry, large
scale extraction is use to deliver intermediates for cGMP purification. Natural
products that are routinely
extracted by SAFC include enzymes, proteins, nucleotides, nucleosides,
and lipids. The equipment used in this process is a Stainless Steel Vincent
Screw Press with 1,500 gallon extraction tanks and 6,400 gallon holding tanks. |
