Beverage Testing

Foods are solids or semi-solids that typically require some physical manipulation prior to extraction procedures. Additionally, these extracts may need some level of cleanup prior to analysis. Because beverages are liquid, sample preparation is often much simpler, usually accomplished with direct injection, headspace, solid phase microextraction (SPME), solid phase extraction (SPE), or liquid-liquid extraction (LLE). A beverage manufacture may be interested in the overall composition, or to determine the levels of alcohol, caffeine, nutraceuticals/antioxidants, vitamins, sweeteners, aroma, off-flavors, or impurities.
