One-Stop Convenience for Environmental Testing Laboratories

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was established in 1970 to consolidate research, monitoring, standard-setting, and enforcement activities into a single agency. The focus of this new agency was to work towards a cleaner, healthier natural environment (water, land, and air). In 1978, analytical methods for the collection, extraction, isolation, and analysis of pollutants in hazardous waste samples were designed. The EPA updates methods as necessary to incorporate technological advancements.
