GE Life Sciences Ion Exchange Columns

GE Life Sciences offer an extensive range of ion exchange chromatography columns, including the well known MonoBeads (10 μm, porous particles), MiniBeads (3 μm, non-porous particles) and SOURCE (15 μm, porous, particles) columns.
Ion exchange separates proteins, peptides and nucleic acids on the basis of their charge. Ion exchange media have charged functional groups that bind molecules with an opposite charge. Bound molecules are eluted from the medium (resin) through competition, via the application of an increasing concentration of a similarly charged molecule. Proteins have numerous functional groups that can have either positive or negative charges. By adjusting the pH or the ionic concentration of the mobile phase, proteins can be separated. Ion exchange is used for capture of target protein or bulk impurities from large-volumes, as an intermediate purification step, or as a final step for high resolution purification to remove impurities.

MiniBeads Ion Exchange Columns

Mini columns are prepacked with monodisperse 3 μm MiniBeads and are designed for high-performance, micropreparative purification and characterization of biomolecules by ion exchange chromatography. The nonporous MiniBeads improve resolution and flow kinetics, better withstand back pressure, while its hydrophillic surface coating minimizes nonspecifice adsorption of the sample.

SOURCE Ion Exchange Columns

SOURCE 15 ion exchange columns are an excellent choice for fast, intermediate lab-scale purification and large-scale polishing of biomolecules. The rigid, monodispersed, spherical particles with controlled pore-size distribution offer sample loading of up to 25 mg of protein/mL, which is higher than MonoBeads but with a slightly lower resolution. The small (15 μm) monodisperse bead give high-resolution purification at high flow rates.
