The Association of German Biologists (VDBiol e.V.) FLUKA-Competition
General Information This biannual competition for photomicrography is sponsored by FLUKA, Switzerland, with the aim of encouraging public interest in the biological sciences. It will be held every two years in June, and prizes totalling 1400 € will be awarded for the best photomicrographic entries.
Rules of the Competition and Conditions of Entry
- 1. The competition is open to all residents worldwide.
- Entries should illustrate any natural structures (living or dead) and should conform with the following:
- They can be presented either as
mounted colour slides (no glass) - size not exceeding 90 x 120 mm – or glossy prints - size not exceeding 300 x 400 mm.
- The entries will be judged on:

clarity of presentation
- composition
- illumination and contrast
- congruency of subject matter and title of photograph
- scientific interest and relevance.
- Prizes:
- Winning entries will be retained by FLUKA, who will have sole rights of publication, reproduction and display.
- Other entries will be returned, but no responsibility can be accepted for damage or loss.
- Closing date will be 30th April, every two years (for next competition: 30 April 2005).
- Entries after the closing date will not be considered, and no responsibility can be accepted for any entries lost or delayed in the post or elsewhere. Entries received incomplete, illegible, mutilated, altered or not complying exactly with the instructions and theme may be disqualified.
- Decisions of the judges in all matters affecting the competition will be final and legally binding.

Method of Entry
There is no entry fee, but each entry must be accompanied by
- the completed entry form for each entry (three entries at the most)
- a return addressed label
