Sigma-Aldrich Production GmbH (Buchs, Switzerland) has a strong focus on providing organic intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. To complement the products manufactured at our Swiss facility, Sigma-Aldrich signed a partnership with WACKER Chemie AG (Munich, Germany) in November 1998 to sell selected WACKER chemicals worldwide. WACKER Chemie AG ranks among the top 100 industrial companies in Germany, with a fine chemical program consisting of organic intermediates, innovative organosilanes and amino acids.

Under the agreement, Sigma-Aldrich is responsible for the distribution of scale-up quantities of these chemicals. For larger quantities the customer supplies directly from WACKER FINE CHEMICALS. This will allow the users seamless availability of the products from development to manufacturing scale, eliminating the need to qualify a new source as the project moves along the development pathway.
For each WACKER product, a Sigma-Aldrich product number is created with the note "Wacker quality". The package sizes available from Sigma-Aldrich for these selected products range from:
- gram samples
- returnable containers
- original WACKER drums
- multidrum pallets
For larger quantities the customer is supplied directly from WACKER
