High Quality Water

Water is indispensable in our life system. Especially the use of high quality water is essential in a broad range of chemical applications, such as in the pharma sector, the electronic-, cosmetic- or food industry. Fluka Chemie GmbH, part of the Sigma-Aldrich family, is able to respond to these demands by offering a broad range of high quality water products, both on small as well as on medium-large scale. The quality of the water that enters the purification system determines how many purification cycles have to be run to achieve a certain water quality. Furthermore a highly developed purification system is needed to achieve the right water quality. Due to Fluka`s strategic location in the mountains, as well as its highly developed purification system, high purity water levels can be achieved.

On the production side Fluka has established a reliable water source coming from a fresh drinking water supply which is purified through various stages including UV-irradiation (half-way the mountain), microfiltration, reverse osmosis, ion-exchange separation, activated carbon treatment and depending on the different impurities, specialized purification steps (at Buchs itself). There is a continuous batch production, with a modular and expandable purification array.

On the analytical side highly sensitive on-line-assays are used to control the system to achieve a first pass in the sensitive final assays, which compete favourably with other vendors.

On the packaging side technologies have been adapted to the water quality, as it is essential not only to reach the right quality at the time of production, but also to maintain that same high quality over an extended period of time. The quality of the packaging material ranges from simple high-density polyethylenecontainers (without binders and catalysts) to hydrolytic class 1 white-glass bottles with specialized caps.

Note: these products can not only be delivered palette-wise, but also as bulkpackage (see below)

All these products can be delivered both in small packages as well as on palettes. For example 95305 (water, puriss p.a., ACS, for inorganic trace analysis) can be delivered per palette of 162 x 2.5 l. A typical batchsize is a series of 12 palettes of 95304 (water for HPLC) (i.e. 5 tons). Beside palette-shipments of these small-packages, all the above high quality water products can be delivered in special-made bulkpackages (of for example 50l, 100 l, 500 l up to 2400 l) on request.
