81938 Coliform ChromoSelect Agar for microbiology Coliform Agar ChromoSelect HiCrome Coliform Agar is a selective chromogenic medium recommended for simultaneous detection of Escherichia coli and total coliforms in water and food samples.
85927 ECC ChromoSelect Selective Agar for microbiology E. coli-Coliform Selective Agar ChromoSelect ECC Selective Agar ChromoSelect HiCrome ECC Selective Agar is a selective medium recommended for the simultaneous detection of Escherichia coli and coliforms in water and food samples. The ingredients help even the sublethally injured coliforms to grow rapidly, Tergitol inhibits Gram-positive as well as some Gram-negative bacteria other than coliforms. The chromogenic mixture contains two chromogenic substrates as Salmon-GAL and X-glucuronide. The enzyme β-D-galactosidase produced by coliforms cleaves Salmon-GAL, resulting in the salmon-to-red coloration of coliform colonies. The enzyme β-D-glucuronidase produced by E. coli, cleaves X-glucuronide. E. coli forms dark blue-to-violet colored colonies due to cleavage of both Salmon-GAL and X-glucuronide. The addition of tryptophan improves the indole reaction. To confirm E. coli, add a drop of Kovac′s reagent (Catalog No. 60983) on the dark blue-to-violet colony. Formation of cherry-red color indicates the positive reaction.
55806 ESBL ChromoSelect Agar Base for microbiology HiCrome Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase Agar Base HiCrome ESBL Agar Base is recommended for selective isolation Extended-Spectrum ß-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaeceae.

M8302 MacConkey Agar with Crystal violet, Sodium chloride and 0.15% Bile salts for microbiology   A differential media recommended for the selection and recovery of Enterobacteriaceae.
51405 MacConkey-Agar (without salt) for microbiology MacConkey-Agar (without salt and crystal violet) A differential medium which restricts the swarming of most Proteus species. Useful for culturing urine specimens which may contain large number of Proteus species.
70144 MacConkey Broth for microbiology   A presumptive medium for the detection of the coliform group in water and milk.
16377 MacConkey Broth Purple for microbiology MacConkey Bromocresol purple Broth MacConkey G Broth MacConkey Broth Purple is a differential medium used for the detection of coliforms in water samples and milk examination by MPN technique. It is a modification of the classic medium, where neutral red is replaced by a less aggressive indicator, according European Pharmacopoeia. It is also recommended by ISO Committee under the specification ISO 9308-2:1990.
63014 MacConkey MUG Agar for microbiology   For the isolation of Salmonella, Shigella and coliform bacteria, in particular E. coli, from diverse material.
Bile salts and crystal violet extensively inhibit the Gram-positive flora. The presence of lactose and neutral red indicate lactose-positive colonies from which E. coli can be identified by fluorescence in the UV.
88902 MacConkey-Sorbitol Agar for microbiology   Medium for the selective isolation and detection of E. coli 0157:H7 in foods
Recommended medium for isolation of pathogenic Escherichia coli 0157:H7 which does ferment lactose but does not ferments sorbitol. Addition of CT-Supplement (Cat. No. 77981) increases the selectivity for Escherichia coli 0157:H7.
83339 Mac Conkey-Sorbitol ChromoSelect Agar for microbiology Mac Conkey-sorbitol Agar ChromoSelect SMAC Agar ChromoSelect Sorbitol MacConkey Agar ChromoSelect HiCrome MacConkey Sorbitol Agar is recommended for selective isolation of Escherichia coli 0157:H7 from food and animal feeding stuffs. MacConkey Sorbitol Agar is based on the formulation described by Rappaport and Henigh. The medium contains sorbitol instead of lactose and it is recommended for the detection of enteropathogenic strains of E. coli 0157:H7 which ferments lactose but does not ferment sorbitol and hence produce colorless colonies. Sorbitol fermenting strains of E. coli produce pink-red colonies. The red color is due to production of acid from sorbitol, absorption of neutral red and a subsequent color change of the dye when pH of the medium falls below 6.8. E. coli 0157:H7 has been recognised as a cause of haemorrhagic colitis. B.C. indicator is added to detect the presence of an enzyme β-D-glucuronidase which is specific for E. coli. Stranins of E. coli possessing β-D-glucuronidase appear as blue colored colonies on the medium. Enteropathogenic strains of E. coli 0157 do not possess beta-D-glucuronidase activity and thus produce colorless colonies. E. coli fermenting sorbitol and possessing beta-D-glucuronidase activity produce purple colored colonies. Most of the gram-positive organisms are inhibited by crystal violet and bile salts. Addition of Tellurite-Cefixime Supplement makes the medium selective. Potassium Tellurite selects the serogroups 0157 from other E. coli serogroups and inhibits Aeromonas species and Providencia species. Cefixime inhibits Proteus species.
