  1. Can I place an online order as soon as I create my eProfile?

    There is a delay between the time you create your eProfile and when that profile is enabled to allow online ordering. In order to update the web profile with your specific account numbers we do need an opportunity to review and adjust your profile after creation. This process is completed within less than 24 hours. In the meantime you will have access to view pricing and availability, as well as access to all technical information.

  2. Is on-line ordering really secure?

    Yes. Data sent between Sigma-Aldrich webservers and you computer is encrypted using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. This protects the data while it travels over the Internet and is unencrypted for display by your computer.

  3. What will my information be used for?

    All transactions that you initiate with Sigma-Aldrich on this web site are confidential. Services such as the "Saved Baksets", "Saved Lists", and "Product Shelf" are for your convenience and are provided solely as customer services. Your name will not be added to the Sigma-Aldrich mailing list unless you request it to be. Learn more about your privacy at sigma-aldrich.com.

  4. I couldn't find an item on your web site that I know you carry in one of the Sigma-Aldrich brand Catalogs, can I still order it?

    Products that are listed in bulk quantities, appear in the Sigma-Aldrich library of Rare Chemicals, or are custom made items can not currently be ordered online. However, should you find another product within a catalogue that is not listed on the website you may enter the catalogue number, size, and quantity in the "Order Text" box located at the bottom of the Order Form page. A Sigma-Aldrich representative will then contact you by email informing you of price and availability, or any problems with that item.

    *Please Note: The order form requires at least 1 product to have been entered in the Shopping Basket.

  5. What if I have a question about my order?

  6. Can I make changes to an order on the website?

    Once you have submitted an order and received a confirmation number you will only have access to view that order. Any addition or removal of products must be made through Customer Service. Additional shipping charges will apply should you wish to add to an order placed during a previous business day.

  7. What payment methods are available to me?

    You can utilize one of three methods of payment when ordering through our web site. These are:

    Credit/Procurement Cards
    Purchase Orders
    Summary Invoice Data Elements - Only for those accounts currently receiving customized billing

  8. If I order on-line, will I still receive contractual pricing?

    Yes. Your eProfile is linked directly to your account numbers with Sigma-Aldrich. All contract pricing will be displayed at the time you place your order.

  9. Is there more than one way to create and order?

    There are actually three ways you can create an order:

    • Create Order This method allows you to enter a series of product numbers and automatically fill in an order form. All you do is select the package size, quantity, your payment method and submit the order.
    • Product Shelf
      Create a personal list of products that you purchase most frequently and access it each time you place an order. Simply check off the products from your personal list and click a button to submit the order.
    • Shopping Basket
      Use the many searching capabilities available on the site to find just the product you need. Once found, select the package size and price and click a button to add the product to your Shopping Basket.

  10. My company has a custom built PipeLine secure site. Can I place orders on the public site?

    Certain customers utilize customized web sites, known as PipeLine, for ordering products from Sigma-Aldrich. Orders placed through these sites are monitored by a team of dedicated account representatives. If your organization has a PipeLine site, please utilize it for ordering. There is certainly no restriction on using the main Sigma-Aldrich site for gathering technical information.

  11. What confirmation will I get?

    Once you have submitted your order the final screen will contain your confirmation number. At the same time the system will automatically send a confirmation to the e-mail address you have saved in your profile.

  12. How do I register with sigma-aldrich.com?

    Registration is fast and easy, and it's a great way to simplify your on-line experience. Simply fill out the eProfile registration form, choose a User Name and Password, and you're set. Once you've registered and logged-in, you'll be able to view SDSs, see pricing in your local currency, order literature without re-entering your "Mail To" information, request the ability to order products and automatically populate all forms that request additional information.

  13. How do I enter a Promotion number?

    A field exists within the online order form that allows you to enter any corresponding promotion number. You'll find it located to the right of the Material Number and Quantity fileds. To view all current promotions click on the Sigma-Aldrich logo in the top left corner of your screen and you'll be returned to the Canadian homepage. All promotions are listed in the middle of the screen under "Product Highlights & Promotions".

  14. I forgot my password. What do I do?

    Send an email to net_eh@sial.com indicating your username (if you remember it) or your full name and address and ask to have your password reset. We will reset your password to a generic word and email you back the information. You can then log on with this information and change your password back to something more familiar by clicking 'Update eProfile'.

  15. Why do I get a blank screen when trying to access an SDS?

    This is most likely due to the settings within your Adobe Acrobat. Follow the instructions below to try and correct the problem. If this should prove to be insuffcient please contact us at net_eh@sial.com

    If using Acrobat Reader 4.0, click the "File" drop down menu and select "Preferences" -> "General". Uncheck the box in the bottom right that states "Web Browser Integration" and then click "OK". Close Acrobat Reader and then try to obtain another SDS.

    If using Acrobat Reader 5.0, click the "Edit" drop down menu and select "Preferences". In the Preferences window, click the "Options" setting in the left column. Uncheck the first setting "Display PDF in Browser" and then click "OK". Close Acrobat Reader and then try to obtain another SDS.

    If you are using Acrobat Reader 6.0, click the "Edit" drop down menu and select "Preferences". In the Preferences window, click the "Internet" setting in the left column. Uncheck the first setting "Display PDF in Browser" and then click "OK". Close Acrobat Reader and then try to obtain another SDS.

  16. Can I save my order?

    Yes. In your shopping basket there is a button titled "Save Order". Just click this button and your order will be saved and available whenever you decide to "Activate" it. Whenever you want to "add to", edit or submit your order, simply come back to our web site and click the "Order Center" link on the top navigation banner of our web site. Once inside the Order Center, you will see a "Saved Orders/Lists" button. Click on this button to see a listing of saved orders. To activate an order, click "Load". Once the order is loaded, click "Recalculate" and continue with your order.

  17. Why do I get the message "Unidentifed System Error"?

    This message is a result of an incorrect password being entered three times. The system will lock you out (even if you now have the correct password). You will need to have your password reset by calling Customer Service at 1 800 565 1400 or email net_eh@sial.com

  18. Can I have a Quote or Pro Forma prepared?

    A project is currently underway to provide customers with the ability to request a Quote or Pro Forma and subsequently convert it to an order. This functionality should be available in the near future. Until that time please contact Customer Service us at 1 800 565 1400 or email at canada@sial.com.

    If you would like to use an existing quotation you can enter the number in the "Order Text" field on the Order Form screen, or the "Quotation/Reference Number" field on the Payment page screen. The order will then be reviewed by a Sigma-Aldrich representative and your quoted prices apllied to the order.
