General description

The average diameter of the octadecylamine functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes (ODA functionalized SWNTs) is 1.4nm ± 0.1nm. This single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) exhibits properties normally associated with molecular species such as solubility in organic solvents and solution-based chemical transformations. The nanotubes were prepared by electric arc discharge method. Amidation of SWNTs with ODA enhances its solubility in various solvents (benzene, toluene, methylene chloride, chloroform.
