Kaolin has been used for decreasing the background reading of serum blood sample in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Kaolin also referred to as aluminum silicate hydroxide, bolus or hydrated aluminum silicate is a white clay that reduces the bioavailability of quebracho, tannic acid and quinine. It also activates the plasma factor XII and platelet factor 3 significantly and to few extent platelet-associated factor XI.
