Application

Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) has been used as a supplement in the preparation of X-Gal (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-β-D-galactoside) staining buffer.
It may be used in the following processes:
• As an oxidant for the oxidation of glucose in a glucose conductometric biosensor.
• Spectrophotometric estimation of amoxicillin (AMX) in aqueous solution.
• Estimation of dipyrone and paracetamol in pharmaceutical preparations by titrimetry.

General description

Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) is a water soluble salt, commonly known as potassium ferricyanide. The rate of the polymerization reaction of pyrrole by potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) has been investigated. The influence of ferricyanide ion on the dissolution of gold nanoparticles has been studied.
