Description

Application

ELISA, Western blotting

General description

Recombinant resistin is a 19.5-kDa dimeric protein consisting of two 92-amino-acid polypeptide chains.

Reconstitution

Reconstitute to a final concentration of 0.5 mg/mL in 25 mM Tris, 25 mM NaCl, pH 7.5. Product is not sterile. For tissue culture use, filter through an appropriate sterile filter.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Resistin, an adipocyte-secreted protein, has contradictory effects in rodents and humans. In rodents, it seems primarily to mediate insulin resistance and a diabetes-like syndrome. In humans, the insulin resistance effect is still unclear, but there is evidence for mediation of inflammatory processes by triggering cytokine production and NF-κB activation.
