These proteins bind to the catalytic subunit of cyclic-AMP dependent protein kinase, displacing the regulatory subunit and inhibiting phosphorylating activity. The cyclic-AMP binding capacity of the regulatory subunit is enhanced. Many other proteins exhibit this enhancement ability, too (Brostrom, C.O. and Kon, C., Anal. Biochem., 58, 459 ).
