Pre-mixed combinations of TRIZMA Base and TRIZMA HCl to provide the most common pH values for Tris buffers. Dissolve in water and use, no pH adjustment is necessary. Tris has a significant temperature coefficient, so select the mixture to give the desired final pH at the desired temperature. Guaranteed accuracy: ±0.1 pH units. If a different concentration is desired, note the concentration effect: a 0.5 M solution will have a pH 0.05 units higher; a 0.005 M solution will have a pH 0.05 units lower. If the buffer is in a pre-weighed foil pouch, dissolve one packet in 900 mL of water; add additional water to 1 liter to make a 100 mM solution. Temperature: 25 °C.
Certain pH electrodes do not give accurate results with Tris buffers.
