General description

Reacts with an epitope on the heavy chain of rabbit IgG, IgA and IgM, which is sensitive to reduction. No cross-reactivity with human IgG, IgA and IgM.

IgGs are glycoprotein antibodies that modulate several immune responses. Rabbit IgGs against target proteins are often used as primary antibodies in various research applications. Thus, secondary anti-rabbit IgGs conjugated to a detectable substrate are useful tools for the analysis of target proteins.
Mouse monoclonal anti-rabbit immunoglobulins binds to an epitope on the heavy chain of rabbit IgG, IgM, and IgA. Reduction of rabbit immunoglobulins appears to destroy the epitope. The antibody does not cross-react with human serum or tissue components. Furthermore, the antibody does not bind to IgGs from human, guinea pig, rat, bovine, turkey, goat, sheep, horse, dog, chicken, pig, and cat.

Preparation Note

Prepared by the two-step glutaraldehyde method described by Avrameas, S., et al., Scand. J. Immunol., 8, Suppl. 7, 7 (1978).

Binds only rabbit Igs. Does not react with reduced rabbit Igs.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 0.01 M sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 0.01% thimerosal

ELISA assays on rabbit serum were performed using anti-rabbit IgG-horseradish peroxidase-mouse monoclonal antibody diluted 1:10,000 in blocking buffer and added at 100 μl/well.

Mouse monoclonal anti-rabbit immunoglobulins have been used for western blot assays at a dilution of 1:1000 using bovine trabecular meshwork cell lysates. The antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry assays (1:100, using human tissue).

The mouse monoclonal anti-Rabbit IgG (heavy chain-specific) peroxidase conjugated antibody can be used as a secondary antibody for western blot analysis of protein preps from E. coli cultures at a concentration of 1:10000 diluted in PBSt for 1 hour at room temperature.
