recombinant human activin receptor IB expressed in mouse NSO cells.

General description

Activins are pleotropic cytokines that belong to the TGF-β superfamily. There are three forms of activin, homodimeric activin A (βA-βA), activin B (βB-βB) and the heterodimeric activin AB (βA-βB). Activins bind to type I (ActRI) or type II (ActRII) receptor complexes including activin receptor IA, activin receptor IIA, activin receptor IB, and activin receptor IIB. The cellular targets of Activin are Smad-2, -3 and -4 that form heteromeric complex and regulate transcription of target genes. The other pathways mediated by activins are Rho A, MAPK, p38 and JNK pathways. Activins play vital role in regulation of growth, differentiation, erythropoiesis, angiogenesis, survival or neural cells and tissue repair. Anti-Activin Receptor IB antibody recognizes human activin receptor IB. The antibody exhibits approximately 2% cross reactivity with recombinant human activin receptor IIA and recombinant human activin receptor IA and less than 1% cross reactivity with recombinant human activin receptor IIA and recombinant human activin receptor IIB.

Type I activin receptors are highly conserved and associate with the type II receptor-activin complex. Furthermore, these receptors bind to BMP-2/7-bound BMPR-II and subsequently form signaling complexes. Human, mouse, and bovine type IB activin receptors share more than 98% homology.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.

Application

Anti-Activin Receptor IB antibody may be used for immunoblotting at a working concentration of 0.1-0.2 μg/ml. The recommended working antibody concentration for ELISA is 0.5-1.0 μg/ml. For immunohistochemistry, a concentration of 5-15 μg/ml is recommended.
