Synonym: Albagen, rHSA

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions are available for this Product.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Albumins are soluble monomeric proteins found in the body fluids and tissues of animals and in some plant seeds. Serum albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones. Serum albumins are also vital in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressures of blood.

Other Notes

View more information on human serum albumin.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 4 mM sodium caprylate and 4 mM N-acetyltryptophan.

This recombinant variant is recommended for use in absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) pharmacological research; cell culture; drug delivery research; and cryopreservation of cells.

Physical properties

Recombinant construct with N-terminal deletion of Asp. Structurally equivalent to native albumin by x-ray crystallography. The N-terminal Asp is the principal Cu2+ and Ni2+ chelation site; its deletion eliminates an important antigenic determinant, and the protein is hypoallergenic. Also blocked at Cys34 to improve stability, monomer content and homogeneity.

These documents are located on the product detail page under Useful Links & Tools. Click on the following link to search for a Certificate of Analysis. Please click the following link to see the details on our Product Dating Information.
How do I get lot-specific information or a Certificate of Analysis?
A Certificate of Analysis is available by lot number and can be obtained through our Advanced Search Option:
What is the concentration of Product A7223, Albumin human - recombinant?
The concentration of this solution is 50 mg/mL.
How many milliliters are in the 1 gram package size of Product A7223, Albumin human - recombinant?
There are 20 mL of albumin solution in the 1 gram package size.
What is the molecular mass of the recombinant albumin used in preparing Product A7223, Albumin human - recombinant?
This recombinant protein contains 584 amino acid residues (66,357 Dalton) derived from the prototypical human serum albumin sequence, Gene Bank Accession No. M12523, with a single deletion of the N-terminal residue (Asp).  The N-terminal deletion of the Asp reduces the affinity by which nickel and copper bind to the protein.  Otherwise, the biological properties are identical as for the full-length protein.
