General description

Alhydrogel is a stable gel which has a uniformly high adsorption capacity and which can be repeatedly autoclaved without losing any of this adsoprtion capacity. As the product itself is a poor heat conductor, care is necessary during autoclaving and constant stirring is advised.

This is a colloidal suspension in water.
How do I use Product A8222, Aluminum hydroxide Gel?
A depot effect can be accomplished by injection using aluminum hydroxide.  The immunogen, either absorbed to the preformed salt, or trapped during precipitation, can be mixed with heat-killed B. pertussis to provide non-specific stimulation of the immune system. Approximately 50-200 μg of protein antigen can be bound by 1 mg aluminum hydroxide. Injections can be done in normal saline. If the antigen is abundant, a titration using a constant amount of antigen versus different amounts of the aluminum hydroxide can be tested. The immunogen/antigen mixture is incubated at room temperature for 20 minutes and then centrifuged at 10,000 g for 10 min.  It is recommended to test the supernatant for the presence of antigen to be certain it has been bound by the adjuvant.  The samples are now ready for injection.
