General description

Mutations in the APP gene in conjunction with the influence of ApoE appears to influence amyloid metabolism. Reacts to the E2, E3, and E4 isoforms of human apoliporotein E.

There are three major isoforms of ApoE: E2, E3 and E4. Studies have reported that ApoE is involved in development of Alzheimer′s Disease (AD). The E4 isoform, in particular, is elevated in both late onset and sporadic AD patients.

Antigen Background

APOE binds to lipids forming lipoproteins called VLDL in the lever where it functions in the transport of triglycerides.

Solution in phosphate buffered saline.


Mouse monoclonal anti-apolipoprotein E antibody has been used for immunohistochemical assays at 1:1,000. The antibody can also be used for western blot (1:100-1:1,000), immunoprecipitation and indirect ELISA.
