Description

Immunogen

Dog IgG

Preparation Note

Prepared by the two-step glutaraldehyde method described by Avrameas, S., et al., Scand. J. Immunol., 8, Suppl. 7, 7 (1978).

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 0.01% thimerosal.

Application

Anti-Dog IgG (whole molecule)−peroxidase antibody is suitable for use in direct ELISA (1:25,000), and in western immunoblot (as the secondary antibody at 1:15,000 dilution, detected by chemiluminescence using hyperfilms). It can be used for dot blot analyses at 1:40,000 dilution and can be detected by direct chemiluminescence assay using 10 ng dog IgG/dot with Luminol Plus enhancer substrate, or be used at a dilution of 1:3,000 in a direct assay using 40 ng dog IgG/dot .

Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.

General description

Dog IgG is a glycoprotein antibody that mediates intestinal antibacterial defense mechanisms. It may regulate the phagocytosis of Gram-negative bacteria . Anti-dog IgG antibody is specific for IgG in dogs.
