Description

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 36-50 of human CKS1B

General description

Cyclin-dependent kinases regulatory subunit 1 is a protein encoded by the CKS1B gene in humans on chromosome 1q21. CKS1B is also referred as CKS1, ckshs1, PNAS-16 and PNAS-18. The protein is a member of the highly conserved family of Cks/Suc1 proteins. The overexpression of cyclin kinase subunit 1B is associated with disease progression in multiple myeloma.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Application

Anti-CKS1B (36-50) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting with a working dilution of 1:500-1:2,000.

Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about the Sigma Life Science and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cks interact with Cdks(cyclin-dependent kinase) and acts as a cofactor to the ubiquitin ligase complex SCF(SKP2) to promote degradation of CDK inhibitors. It correlates with the increased radiotherapy resistance of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Cks1 along with Skp2 are up-regulated at the early stages of renal damage and are involved in down-regulation of p27 in proliferative tubular dilation. It is also associated with progression of chronic nephropathy. It is essential for proper cell growth and its overexpression may cause cancer.
