General description

Calponin 3 (CNN3) genes belong to Calponin family. It is an actin-interacting protein expressed in brain and by fibroblasts/myofibroblasts in the proliferation phase of wound healing. Calponin-3 is associated with α-SMA in stress fibers formed by cultured dermal fibroblasts.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. Biochem/physiol Actions

Calponin 3 helps in actin stress fiber remodeling that is essential for cell motility and contraction of dermal fibroblasts in the wound healing process. The mRNA and protein are expressed in cartilage tissue and isolated chondrocytes. It plays a key role in the regulation of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs)-dependent cellular responses. It helps in the regulation of actin cytoskeleton rearrangement, which is required for the plasma membranes of trophoblasts to become fusion competent.
