Anti-Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor antibody produced in goat

IgG fraction of antiserum, lyophilized powder

recombinant human CNTF expressed in Escherichia coli.

General description

Ciliary neurotrophic factor is a cytokine of the IL-6 family and is crucial survival factor for ciliary ganglion neurons. The signalling initiated by CNTF is mediated by heteromeric receptor complex composed of CNTF receptor α, leukemia inhibitory factor receptor β and glycoprotein gp130. The binding of CNTF to the receptor complex results in the activation of pathways involving Jak and STAT family of DNA-binding transcription factors. The effective therapeutic use of CTNF has been studied in retinitis pigmentosa, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders
Anti-Human Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF) antibody specifically recognizes human CNTF.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.

The antibody neutralizes the biological activity of recombinant human CNTF.

Preparation Note

Purified using protein G.

Anti-Human Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF) antibody may be used for immunoblotting at a working concentration of 1-2 μg/ml. For ELISA a working concentration of 0.5-1.0 μg/ml may be used. The antibody is suitable for neutralization reactions.
