Application

Cytochrome P450 Microsome Preparation Human, product C4499, is a negative control without NADPH reductase and is produced in Saccharomyces cervisiae. Cytochrome P450 is used to catalyze the oxidative metabolism of xenobiotics and to study the biotransformation and elimination of drugs and pollutants from the body. Cytochrome P450 is used to study hormone synthesis and breakdown, cholesterol synthesis, drug metabolism and bioactivation and vitamin D metabolism1. Cytochrome P450 has been used as a negative control during the examination of CYP2S1 catalytic activity 2.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Microsomal cytochrome P450 enzymes are found primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum of liver tissue. They catalyze the oxidative metabolism of xenobiotics and are the major enzymes involved in drug metabolism and bioactivation1. The reactions are achieved through a mixed monooxygenase system. The cytochrome P450 enzymes range in molecular mass between 45-60 kDa.
