General description

The gene Cell division cycle protein 20 homolog (CDC20) is mapped to human chromosome 1p34.1. The protein localizes to the centrosomes.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Anti-CDC20 (136-150) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blot at a dilution of 1:500-1:2,000.

Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about the Sigma Life Science and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cell division cycle protein 20 homolog (CDC20) interacts with checkpoint protein MAD2 and forms a ternary complex with the anaphase-promoting complex (APC). The ternary complex regulates anaphase initiation in cells. CDC20-APC complex is also crucial for regulating presynaptic differentiation in primary postmitotic mammalian neurons via degradation of transcription factro NeuroD2. CDC20 is up-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. CDC20 interaction with BubR1 (MAD3/BUB1-related protein kinase) is important for maintaining mitotic checkpoint complex homeostasis.
