General description

CD30 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNF receptor superfamily. CD30 was originally identified as a cell surface antigen of Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells using monoclonal antibody Ki-1.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline

Shows <1% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse CD30.

Anti-CD30 antibody produced in goat is suitable for indirect ELISA at a concentration of 0.5-1.0μg/mL and western blotting at a concentration of 0.1-0.2μg/mL.

Reconstitute with 1 mL sterile PBS to yield 0.1 mg/ml solution

Biochem/physiol Actions

CD30 has a critical role in the pathophysiology of Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30+ lymphomas. CD30 acts as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection. CD30 interacts with tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor (TRAF)1 and TRAF2, and induces cell death in T cell hybridomas. Similarly, CD30 also interacts with TRAF2 and TRAF5 to regulate nuclear factor κB (NFκB) activation. CD30 is also crucial for human embryonic stem cells survival and proliferation via NFκB activation.
