Biochem/physiol Actions

Catenin (cadherin-associated protein) β 1 also called β-catenin is encoded by the CTNNB1 gene in humans. It is a dual function protein that regulates the coordination of cell-cell adhesion and gene transcription. β-catenin is mapped on the short arm of chromosome 3. It is useful for differential diagnosis of Osteoblastoma (OB) and osteosarcoma (OS). β-catenin signaling pathway may contribute to cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) cell proliferation. It may serve as a prognostic marker for CCA progression and provide a potential target for CCA therapy.
