ChromaTrack Dye Marker Mix for Nucleic Acid Agarose Gels

Can be used with either Tris-Borate-EDTA (TBE) or Tris-Acetate-EDTA (TAE) agarose gels. The migration of the tracking dye bands and their apparent base pair size is dependent on the percentage of agarose used. The reference table indicates the approximate base pairs with which the individual tracking dyes migrate. One volume of ChromaTrack may be added directly to 5 volumes of a nucleic acid sample or 2 – 5 μl of ChromaTrack may be run by itself in a separate well.

Other Notes

ChromaTrack is a solution containing a unique combination of dyes for monitoring the progress of nucleic acid electrophoresis on agarose gels. The six dye markers migrate at different molecular weights providing a range of colored bands visible in ambient light. ChromaTrack can be used alone when size approximation is all that is required or mixed with DNA or RNA markers to provide a visual monitor of nucleic acid migration during electrophoresis. ChromaTrack does not interfere with the transfer of DNA to either nitrocellulose or positively charged nylon membranes.
