General description

Accumulation of eosinophils is the hallmark of several medical conditions such as infections and systemic diseases. A number of chemokines stimulate the proliferation, migration and accumulation of eosinophils at the site of inflammation. Eotaxin is chemoattractant that selectively acts on eosinophils and has minimal effect on other leukocytes. It is secreted in response to TNF-α, IL-5 or IL-3. The effect of Eotaxin is mediated by specific eotaxin receptor that induces activation of Gi proteins, MAPK signaling and involves changes in intracellular calcium levels and cytoskeletal reorganization. Eotaxin receptor is present on eosinophils, basophils and T-helper cells. Eotaxin coordinates the accumulation of these cells in response to allergic inflammation and homing of eosinophils to gastrointestinal tract and mucosal tissues
Monoclonal Anti-Eotaxin recognizes mouse eotaxin. This antibody exhibits less than 10 % cross-reactivity with recombinant human eotaxin, recombinant mouse MARC, and recombinant human 6Ckine.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline


Detects mouse CCL11/Eotaxin in direct ELISAs and Western blots. In direct ELISAs and Western blots, less than 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) CCL11/Eotaxin, recombinant mouse CCL7,and rhCCL21 is observed.

Purified using protein G.


Anti-eotaxin antibody may be used for immunoblotting at a working concentration of 1-2 μg/ml. The antibody was used at 1.5 μg/ml concentration to detect eotaxin in metacestode tissue extracts from mice by immunoblotting. For ELISA, a working antibody concentration of 0.5-1.0 μg/ml is recommended. The antibody is suitable for neutralization reactions (ND50 is 10-30 μg/ml).
