Biochem/physiol Actions

Transcription factor E2F3 is a protein encoded by the E2F3 gene in humans. It belongs to E2F transcription factor family and is involved in the regulation of cell cycle. E2F3 helps in the regulation of the expression of a number of genes that are important in cell proliferation. It is a oncogene with strong proliferative potential and is involved in many processes. E2F3 plays an important role in the development of several types of cancer. Overexpression of E2F3 may be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It plays an important role in controlling cell cycle progression and proliferation. E2F3 is frequently expressed in pediatric Wilms′ tumors and may be associated with the same.
