Analysis Note

The biological activity is measured by its ability to bind recombinant mouse ephrin-B2/Fc in an ELISA assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Member of Eph receptor tyrosine kinase family shown to bind ephrin-B1 and ephrin-B2; involved in pattern formation and morphogenesis and arterial/venous demarcation of the developing vasculature. EphB4 is also involved in hematopoiesis.

EPHB4 is a member of the Eph family of receptor tyrosine kinases, which play a role in regulating cell adhesion and cell movement during embryonic development. Furthermore, because tissue disorganization and abnormal cell adhesion, movement, and survival characterize the more advanced stages of cancer, the inappropriate functioning of Eph receptor could play a role in malignancy. Furthermore, EPHB4 has been shown to be the major essential interaction partner of Ephrin B2 in angiogenesis.

Other Notes

Extracellular domain of mouse EphB4 (amino acids 1-539) fused to the C-terminal 6X histidine-tagged Fc region of human IgG1 via a polypeptide linker.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.

General description

EPHB4 (Ephb1 Eph receptor B4) belongs to EPHB receptor family, which is the biggest family of transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptors. Mammals contain five EPHB receptors, namely, EPHB1-EPHB4 and EPHB6. Their ligands are transmembrane in nature and are called ephrinB1, -B2 and -B3.
