Biochem/physiol Actions

Filamin, also known as actin-binding protein, is a large flexible V-shaped actin cross-linking protein present in vertebrates of both muscle and non-muscle cells. It has actin-binding domains at the ends of each arm. Filamin is a dimer of two large (280-kd) subunits, forming a flexible V-shaped molecule that crosslinks actin filaments into orthogonal networks. Filamin cross-links actin and promotes it’s aggregation and gelation.
