Purified chicken IgY (IgG)

chicken IgY (IgG)

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Anti-Chicken IgY (IgG) (whole molecule)-FITC antibody may be used for immunofluorescence using human peripheral blood lymphocytes at a working antibody dilution of 1:320. For immunohistochemistry a working antibody dilution of 1:320 may be used. A dilution of 1:1000 was used for EP receptor staining of murine keratinocyte cell line 308 using primary antibodies generated in chicken. The antibody was also used for immune electron microscopy labeling of porcine nerve samples.

Anti-Chicken IgY (IgG) (whole molecule)−FITC antibody is suitable for use in direct immunofluorescence (at 1:320 dilution, using human peripheral blood lymphocytes) and immunohistochemistry (at 1:320 dilution, using chicken anti-human IgG as the primary antibody in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of human tonsils).

General description

Birds, reptiles and amphibians express IgY antibodies that are functionally equivalent to IgG. Anti-Chicken IgY (IgG) (whole molecule)-FITC antibody is specific for IgY of chicken. Rabbit Anti- Chicken IgY (IgG) is conjugated to fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC). Free FITC is removed by gel filtration.

Chicken IgY is the major antibody found in chicken serum. Chickens generate a comparatively enhanced antibody response to mammalian antigenic proteins. These immunoglobulins do not bind to Fc receptors present in mammals and bacteria, and also do not interact with rheumatoid factors. Thus chicken antibodies are useful analytical tools for various research applications . Anti-Chicken IgY (IgG) (whole molecule)−FITC antibody is specific for chicken IgY (IgG).
