Application

Hemocyanin, cross-linked from Limulus polyphemus was used as carrier protein to study the immune responses to antitetrodoxin vaccine in BALB/c mice.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hemocyanins circulate extracellularly in hemolymph. They do not contain iron but bind oxygen at an active site containing copper atoms ligated by protein side chains.
