Fragment from the second conserved domain of gp120. Important for HIV infectivity and antibody neutralization.

General description

The gp120 (glycoprotein-120) is a HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)-1 envelope glycoprotein. The entry of the virus in cells requires association between gp120 and cell surface receptors, CD4 (cluster of differentiation 4) and chemokine receptor. The gp120 fragment (254-274) is conserved in all strains of HIV.
