Is Product HT901, Crystal violet solution, used as part of a kit?
Although available separately, this solution is also a component of Gram Stain kits HT90A and HT90T (for staining of heat-fixed films and tissue, respectively).
Is Product HT901, Crystal violet solution, suitable for colony staining, migration or plaque staining?
We recommend Product No. C0775 (Crystal Violet, certified by the Biological Stain Commission), or Fluka Product No. 93770 (Tuerk's solution) for these stains, rather than diluting down the relatively high concentration of Crystal Violet (2.3%) in HT901 to approximately 0.1%.  Product HT901 was formulated for use in the Gram Stain procedure. The product's performance has not been tested for use in colony staining, migration or plaque assays.
