Description

Analysis Note

The biological activity is measured by its ability to induce mouse IFN-γ production by activated mouse T cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin 18, also known as interferon-γ-inducing factor (IGIF) and IL-1γ, is a proinflammatory cytokine. It is an inducer of IFN-γ and Th1 (T cell helper type 1) responses (cell differentiation, cell-mediated cytotoxicity and inflammation). IL-18 induces the migration of microvascular endothelial cells.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in 20 mM MOPS, 50 mM sodium sulfate, 0.5 mM EDTA, 0.5 mM DTT, pH 7.2, containing 50 μg bovine serum albumin per 1 μg of cytokine with 5% trehalose.
