Biochem/physiol Actions

The PKD (protein kinase D) family of enzymes participates in various cellular functions, including Golgi organization and plasma membrane associated transport, metastasis, immune responses, cell death and cell proliferation. In cancers, PKD2 is associated with survival, angiogenesis as well as invasion. Absence of PKD2 can result in glioma cell senescence.

General description

PKD2 (protein kinase D2) is a phorbol ester- and growth factor-activated serine/threonine kinase that has two cysteine-rich motifs, a pleckstrin homology domain and a catalytic domain. It is widely expressed and belongs to the protein kinase D family.
